A panel discussion on "Women Novels and Taboos" was held on 16 October 2009 during the "3rd New Arab Woman Forum".

This panel grouped leading women novelists from the Arab world, namely Mrs. Hanan Al Shaikh (Lebanon), Mrs. Leila Othman (Kuwait), Dr. Afaf El Batayna (UAE), Mrs. Samar Yazbek (Syria) and Mrs. Samar Al Mogren (Bahrain). It was moderated by the Lebanese poet and journalist Joseph Issaoui.

The panel was preceded by readings from the novelists’ books by the Lebanese actress Randa Asmar and followed by a book signing ceremony of the following books and others:
