The Saudi Corporate Social Responsibility Forum
HRH Prince Mish’al Bin Majid Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Governor of Jeddah inaugurated the Saudi Corporate Social Responsibility Forum held at the Park Hyatt Hotel Jeddah on 29 and 30 May 2012 and co-organized by the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal Group, in the presence of more than 600 senior officials, corporate leaders, experts and stakeholders.
The Deputy CEO of Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal Group Faysal Abou Zaki kicked-off the forum activities with a speech stating that the “Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry initiative chaired by Sheikh Saleh Kamel to organize this forum stems from the Chamber’s interest in this cause given the pivotal role it is playing among the active chambers across the social, commercial and industrial landscape and its proactive stance in founding the social responsibility center”. He adds: “We appreciate the trust placed by the Chamber in Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal Group and its engagement in the forum organization process, knowing that the Group relation with the Chamber goes back to 25 years approximately as the cooperation and joint work with the Jeddah Chamber is an integral part of the collaboration with the Kingdom government and private entities.
Abou Zaki pointed out: “we are gathered this year for the second edition of the forum after the great success we achieved in the first edition that culminated in the launch of two paramount initiatives in terms of social responsibility and contributed to raising awareness on this culture. Since last year, we noticed that an increasing number of Saudi companies started to develop and adopt specific programs serving the society and acquired more responsive practices to the targeted social segments needs”.
Abou Zaki closed his remarks indicating that the “Saudi Corporate Social Responsibility Forum” is a natural step to bring together the different sectors and segments interested in social responsibility under one umbrella in order to discuss the next phase of the corporate social responsibility programs and how to transform them from initiatives to integrated strategies based on the KSA Arab and Islamic culture to serve the comprehensive development causes and supplement the economic and social development plans lead by the Kingdom government”.
On his part, the President of the Jeddah Social Responsibility Center, Ahmad Al Hamdan indicated that “the forum organized by the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry represented by the Jeddah Social Responsibility Center and Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal Group falls under the center strategy aimed at expanding the social responsibility awareness programs and activities and driving companies to go ahead with their strategies developed to deepen the social responsibility concept across the business sector and make sure the stakeholders are performing their role on this front”.
Al Hamdan noted “we did not only want to have the Saudi Corporate Social Responsibility Forum as a platform to spread the corporate social responsibility concept and institutionalize the relevant causes but we endeavored also to transform it into a tribune for launching initiatives. This was translated in the first edition with the Jeddah Social Responsibility Center launching the “Jeddah Tayseer initiative for disabled people” aimed at providing various services for this precious social segment including the rehabilitation of all buildings for public use such that they could be used by impaired in addition to awareness and empowerment services and the prevention of impairment causes as well as the provision of special transportation services to move, train and employ them with dignity. The project entailed research activities across engineering faculties to come up with innovations that would make the life of impaired people easier”.
On another note, Al Hamdan announced the “launch of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry Social Responsibility Award aimed at highlighting the best practices and programs in terms of social responsibility across the Kingdom based on the specific objective standards that are being currently developed and which will be announced soon”, indicating that “the objective is not to add up a new award but to shed light on outstanding efforts and encourage companies to put greater efforts to develop this fruitful national endeavor”.
Afterwards, HRH Prince Mish’al Bin Majid Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud called the Saudi Corporate Social Responsibility Forum open wishing everyone great success.

The forum organizers presented as well a commemorative award to HRH Prince Mish’al Bin Majid Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Governor of Jeddah as a token of appreciation and thankfulness for his patronage and presence in the forum opening ceremony.
After the opening ceremony, the Saudi Corporate Social Responsibility Forum carried on its activities with a keynote speech by SAGIA Deputy Governor for Investors Services Ali Sheneamer in which he stressed the “applicability of the social responsibility that is being increasingly maximized at both public and private sectors across the Kingdom and worldwide”.
Sheneamer indicated also that “over 62% of the responders to a SAGIA questionnaire on the importance of corporate social responsibility considered that it became an indispensable pillar to building trust among companies and consumers while 56% found that social responsibility is a main factor to attract investors; in the same vein, 60% said that it represents one of the pivotal elements to drive corporate staff to do their best at the professional and moral levels”. Sheneamer added: “we started to notice some forms of boycott in certain countries against the companies that do not present social responsibility programs and commit to implement them. Even, many investors’ priorities are no more confined to the lucrative part such as the return on investment but they are also focused on the investment impact on the community diverse segments”.
Sheneamer concluded that the “SAGIA Corporate Competitiveness Index as to social responsibility attracted around 100 companies since its launch on top of them the leading KSA businesses”.
After Sheneamer’s speech, the working sessions were kicked-off with the first one under the title of “how to build sound business strategies”. The session was chaired by businessman and journalist Hussein Shabkashi and included the following panelists: Chairman of the Makkah Vocational and Technical Training Council Dr. Rahsid Bin Mohammed Al Zahrani, Al Ahli Bank Deputy Chairman and Head of the Social Responsibility Department Eng. Mahmoud Al Turkestani, the Construction Products Holding Company (Mawad Al-Emaar Holding) Director of Business Development and Head of the Social Responsibility Department Dr. Faysal Ibrahim Al-Aqeel and Chairman and CEO of KSA and Bahrain General Electric Waleed Abu Khalid.

المنتدى السعودي للمسؤولية الاجتماعية للشركات
افتتح الأمير مشعل بن ماجد بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود، محافظ جدة، أعمال المنتدى السعودي للمسؤولية الاجتماعية للشركات، الذي ينعقد في فندق بارك حياة جدة يومي 29 و 30 مايو 2012، بتنظيم من الغرفة التجارية الصناعية بجدة ومجموعة الاقتصاد والأعمال، بحضور حشد من كبار المسؤولين وقادة الشركات والخبراء والمهتمين تجاوز 600 مشاركا.
استهل نائب الرئيس التنفيذي في مجموعة الاقتصاد والأعمال فيصل أبوزكي؛ أعمال المنتدى بكلمة، قال فيها إن "مبادرة الغرفة التجارية الصناعية بجدة برئاسة الشيخ صالح كامل لتنظيم هذا المنتدى إنما ينبع من الاهتمام الذي توليه الغرفة لهذه القضية، وهي التي كانت في طليعة الغرف الناشطة في الميدان الاجتماعي كما التجاري والاقتصادي، وكانت سباقة على مستوى المملكة في تأسيس مركز خاص بالمسؤولية الاجتماعية". متابعا: "نحن نقدر ثقة الغرفة بمجموعة الاقتصاد والأعمال وإشراكها في عملية تنظيم هذا المنتدى، علماً بأن علاقة المجموعة مع الغرفة ترقى إلى نحو ربع قرن، وأن التعاون والعمل المشترك مع غرفة جدة ما هو إلا جزء من التعاون مع مؤسسات المملكة الحكومية والخاصة. فبالأمس القريب نظمت المجموعة مؤتمرين: الأول مع وزارة المالية وهو "الملتقى السعودي للمنشآت الصغيرة والمتوسطة" والثاني مع مجلس الغرف السعودية وهو"الملتقى السعودي-اللبناني السابع". والعام الماضي، نظمت المجموعة "ملتقى الإنشاءات والمشاريع" مع الغرفة التجارية الصناعية بالرياض و"الملتقى الاقتصادي السعودي" بالتعاون مع وزارة المالية، إضافة إلى الدورة الأولى من هذا الملتقى".
ولفت أبوزكي إلى "أننا نلتقي هذا العام في الدورة الثانية من المنتدى بعد النجاح الذي تحقق في الدورة الأولى والتي تكللت بإطلاق مبادرتين مهمتين في مجال المسؤولية الاجتماعية، وساهمت في زيادة الوعي بهذه الثقافة. ومنذ العام الماضي، لاحظنا أن المزيد من الشركات السعودية بادرت إلى تطوير وتبني برامج محددة لخدمة المجتمع وأصبحت لديها تجارب أكثر استجابة لحاجات الفئات الاجتماعية التي تركز على خدمتها".
مضيفا: "تابعت الشركات التي تملك سجلا حافلا في مجال المسؤولية الاجتماعية تعميق تجربتها، وبات هنالك شركات سعودية رائدة في هذا المجال ليس فقط على المستوى الوطني إنما أيضا على مستوى المنطقة. وفي ذلك خير دليل على أن الاستمرارية هي من العوامل المهمة لنجاح برامج المسؤولية الاجتماعية للشركات. لكن النجاح ليس مرتبطا فقط بالتزام الشركات بمتابعة الاستثمار في خدمة المجتمع بل أيضا بأن يتم توجيه هذه الاستثمارات نحو القضايا الاجتماعية ذات الأولوية الوطنية. وهنا تبرز أهمية الشراكة ما بين القطاعين العام والخاص في تحديد المجالات التي يجب أن يتم تركيز جهود الشركات عليها بما يخدم الأهداف التنموية التي تسعى حكومة خادم الحرمين الشريفين إلى تحقيقها".
وأوضح نائب الرئيس التنفيذي أن "المنتدى بدورته الثانية يسلّط الضوء على عدد من القضايا الأساسية يأتي في مقدمتها مناقشة عناوين المرحلة المقبلة في تطوير وتطبيق استراتيجيات المسؤولية الاجتماعية، ويستعرض كيفية تبني المعايير وتقييم الأداء إضافة إلى كيفية تعزيز التفاعل بين المناهج التعليمية وأجندة المسؤولية الاجتماعية، كما يركز على أهم مبادرات الشركات الكبرى في تنمية المنشآت الصغيرة ورواد الأعمال"، معتبرا أن "المنتدى لم يغفل مناقشة مدى إسهام وسائل الإعلام وشبكات التواصل الاجتماعي في مساعدة الشركات على تعزيز برامجها للمسؤولية الاجتماعية".
وختم أبوزكي مشيراً إلى أن انعقاد "المنتدى السعودي للمسؤولية الاجتماعية للشركات" يعتبر خطوة طبيعية على طريق جمع كافة القطاعات والفئات المعنية بالمسؤولية الاجتماعية تحت سقف واحد للتباحث في كيفية الانتقال ببرامج المسؤولية الاجتماعية للشركات إلى المرحلة المقبلة، وتحويلها من مبادرات إلى إستراتيجيات متكاملة ترتكز إلى الثقافة العربية والإسلامية للمجتمع السعودي، وتنطلق منها لخدمة القضايا التنموية الشاملة ورفد خطط التنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية التي تقودها حكومة المملكة". مضيفا: "هذا ليس غريبا على هذا البلد الذي أظهرت الدولة فيه على الدوام حساسية عالية للشأن الاجتماعي وإدراكا قوياً لأهمية الموازنة بين النمو الاقتصادي ومبدأ الحرية ألاقتصادية وبين واجب التضامن الاجتماعي والتكافل الإسلامي".
بدوره، أشار رئيس مركز جدة للمسؤولية الاجتماعية المستشار احمد الحمدان إلى أن "المنتدى الذي تنظمه الغرفة التجارية الصناعية بجدة ممثلة بمركز المسؤولية الاجتماعية ومجموعة الاقتصاد والأعمال يأتي في إطار إستراتيجية المركز التي تتمحور حول التوسع في برامج وأنشطة التوعية بثقافة المسؤولية الاجتماعية وتحفيز الشركات للمضي قدما في تنفيذ استراتيجياتها في مجال تعميق مفهوم المسؤولية الاجتماعية في قطاع الأعمال والتأكيد على العاملين فيها لممارسة دورهم في هذا المجال". مضيفا: "من خلال المنتدى السعودي للمسؤولية الاجتماعية، يهدف المركز إلى الإضاءة على الأهمية المتنامية للمسؤولية الاجتماعية، حيث نرى أنه بتوحيد جهود القطاعين العام والخاص يمكننا أن نواجه التحديات التي لا تزال تحول دون تبني جميع شركات المملكة برامج محددة في مجال المسؤولية الاجتماعية بما يسهم في المحصلة في دفع عجلة التنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية في المملكة".
ولفت الحمدان إلى "أننا لم نكتف في أن يكون المنتدى السعودي للمسؤولية الاجتماعية منصة لنشر مفهوم المسؤولية الاجتماعية للشركات وطرح القضايا ذات الصلة فقط، بل حرصنا على تحويله منبراً لإطلاق المبادرات. وتجلى ذلك خلال الدورة الأولى حيث أطلق مركز جدة للمسؤولية الاجتماعية مبادرة "تيسير جدة لذوي الإعاقة" الهادفة إلى تقديم خدمات متعددة لهذه الشريحة الغالية منها تأهيل كافة المباني ذات الاستخدام العام لتصبح ملائمة لاستقبالهم، بالإضافة إلى خدمات التوعية والتمكين والوقاية من مسببات الإعاقة وخدمات النقل المهيأ لنقلهم بكرامة وتدريبهم وتوظيفهم. وقد تميز المشروع بالاستحواذ على الأنشطة البحثية لكليات الهندسة لتسخيرها لاختراعات تسهل حياة ذوي الإعاقة".
واعتبر رئيس مركز جدة للمسؤولية الاجتماعية أن "مشاريع وبرامج مركز المسؤولية الاجتماعية تغطي جوانب اقتصادية منها مساعدة الأسر المنتجة على تسويق منتجاتها وإيجاد مصادر التمويل لأنشطتها التجارية. وفي هذا الإطار، يؤكد المركز على أهمية تأصل مفهوم مكارم الأخلاق لـ 30 مهنة وإعداد دورات تدريبية تحت عنوان غارس القيم، هذا بالإضافة إلى تشجيع روح التطوع وحث الشباب على الإنخراط في الأنشطة النفعية التطوعية". مضيفا: "تبنينا إطلاق العديد من مبادرات المسؤولية الاجتماعية تحت مظلة الغرف السعودية لتعميق روح التكافل الاجتماعي ودعم الجهات المحتاجة خاصة من الشباب الباحثين عن العمل في المشاريع الصغيرة من خلال أعضاء من الشركات والبنوك والجمعيات الخيرية وعدد كبير من المنتسبين للقطاع الخاص والقادرين على دعم هذه الفئات المهمة في المجتمع"، لافتا إلى أن "هذا من شانه أن يوسع دائرة المسؤولية الاجتماعية ويشيع ثقافة المسؤولية بين شركات ومؤسسات القطاع الخاص وقيامهم بأدوارهم تجاه المجتمع".
في المقابل، أعلن الحمدان عن "إطلاق جائزة الغرفة التجارية الصناعية بجدة للمسؤولية الاجتماعية والتي تهدف إلى إبراز أفضل التجارب والبرامج في ممارسة المسؤولية الاجتماعية على مستوى المملكة وفق معايير موضوعية محددة يجري العمل على إعدادها، سيتم الإعلان عنها في وقت قريب"، معتبراً أن "الهدف هنا ليس إضافة جائزة جديدة بل تسليط الضوء على الجهود المميزة وتشجيع وتحفيز الشركات على بذل جهود أكبر لتطوير هذا العمل الوطني المثمر".
بعدها أعلن الأمير مشعل بن ماجد بن عبدالعزيز عن افتتاح المنتدى السعودي للمسؤولية الاجتماعية للشركات راجيا أن يُكلّل بالنجاح والتوفيق.
