
H.E. Dr. Tarek Mitri

H.E. Dr. Tarek Metri is currently the Deputy Prime Minister of Lebanon
H.E. is a Lebanese politician and academic and is a University Professor at American University of Beirut.
H.E. is also Former Minister of Information in Lebanon, Former Minister of Culture, Former Minister of
Foreign Affairs and Minister of Environment and Administrative Development in Lebanon.
He was a lecturer and visitor professor in Saint Joseph University, the University of Free Amsterdam, Harvard
University, University of Geneva and Balamand University. He served as director of the department of
Dialogue and Relations between Christians and Muslims in the World Churches Council (Geneva) and director
of the Dialogue Program between Christians and Muslims in the Middle East Churches Council (Beirut). He is
a senior fellow at the American University of Beirut and Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and
International Affairs. He holds the UNESCO chair on dialogue in Saint Joseph University, Beirut. He is
chairman of the committee overseeing the Museum of Nicolas Sursock in Beirut, member of the Strategic
Council of Saint Joseph University and member of the board of trustees of the Institute for Palestine Studies.
He was nominated, in four consecutive Lebanese governments, Minister of Environment, Administrative
Development, Culture and Information and acting Minister of Foreign Affairs. He has valuable books and
publications in different topics like religion, law and society.
he has a PhD in Political Science from the University of Paris.
