Philippe Jabre
President
Philippe Jabre is a businessman, portfolio manager, philanthropist, and patron of the arts. After a successful 40-year career in finance between London and Geneva, he returned to Lebanon four years ago and acquired the iconic Almaza Brewery from Heineken, transforming it into a family business.
He began his education at Collège Notre-Dame de Jamhour and later earned his MBA from Columbia University in New York. He then spent 20 years working in London, followed by another 20 years in Geneva, where he distinguished himself in the financial industry.
Over 30 years ago, he founded the Association Philippe Jabre (APJ), a charitable foundation that focuses primarily on education. Through APJ, he has provided scholarships to more than 10,000 high school and university students, while also supporting numerous socio-medical initiatives.
In a country marked by growing poverty and deepening social divisions, the mission of a man like Philippe Jabre has become indispensable. With his remarkable background and stature, he works—often behind the scenes through his foundation—to ensure that financial hardship does not stand in the way of young people's potential and merit. His many philanthropic actions contribute significantly to Lebanon’s social, cultural, and economic development. Philippe Jabre has succeeded not only in building a thriving career, but also in sharing the fruits of his success to benefit those who have not had the same opportunities—helping them rise above their precarious conditions.
He currently serves as a trustee at the American University of Beirut (AUB), and sits on the advisory boards of both Columbia Business School in New York and the medical faculty of Saint Joseph University (USJ) in Lebanon.
